Boys State Awards
It is an honor in itself to be chosen as a delegate to Palmetto Boys State.
Only about 850 participants a year are selected from all of the high schools in
South Carolina. The following are some other awards that you may earn while
attending Palmetto Boys State.
- Boys Nation
Two of the 800+ citizens will be selected to attend American Legion Boys Nation
during July in Washington D.C. for one week with all expenses paid. They will
meet the President of the United States and spend time with both S.C. Senators while
debating national issues with Boys Nation Senators from every state in the country.
They will also establish a mock national government.
- Outstanding Citizen
This award is presented at the end of the week to the boy who best exemplifies the
character, attitude, and spirit of Palmetto Boys State.
- Outstanding Law School Graduate
The citizen with the highest score on the Palmetto Boys State Bar Exam is recognized
in front of the entire Boys State assembly.
- Media Editors
The newspaper, which is published daily, carries the names of the Editor in Chief
and other editors and reporters in each edition. The names of the web editors
and video editors are also included.
